Mitchell was just ridin' the range one day acheckin' out the lay of the land....
Out of the West come a lawman. He was havin' trouble with some interlopers around these parts who were committin' acts of lawlessness...He needed help. Mitchell allowed as how he would help and volunteered to be deputized, right there on the spot.
Officer Martinez was his name, New York City was from where he came. Well, he's been here about 7 years.
He knows a good man when he sees one and deputized Mitchell right there on the spot and then sent him out on patrol.
